Volunteering

Operating a diverse range of Family Support and mental health services we offer a variety of volunteer opportunities. We have volunteer roles available both during the day and after hours. We are looking for volunteers across a number of programs, each requiring different sets of skills.

Our current Volunteer roles include:

  • Telephone support worker – Carer helpline
  • Support group co-convener

Volunteer Selection Process

  • Applicants need to complete and submit a Volunteer Application Form. An interview may then be offered, which will occur on a weekday during office hours and be approximately half an hour in length.
  • The selection process for telephone support workers and support group co-convenors includes a training program and observation shifts.
  • All staff and volunteer appointments with Mind Australia are subject to a three-month probation period and a satisfactory national police check, which will occur at no cost to the volunteer.
  • Mind Australia accepts volunteer services with the understanding that such service is at the sole discretion of Mind.
NOTE: Volunteers need to be able to commit to their chosen role for a minimum period of 12 months with no more than three months off (i.e. due to holidays, study requirements etc).
